Big Brothers Big Sisters network across Canada is launching MEGABike, a new fundraising challenge and community engagement activity.
MEGABike is a 29-person bicycle. This human-powered vehicle is the driving force behind social change in communities across Canada. This year, Big Brothers Big Sisters is inviting individuals and organizations to hop on the MEGABike. Participants may register with co-workers, clients, family and friends. Enjoy a fun team-building experience while you pedal for the potential of children and youth in our community!
Throughout the pandemic, many traditional events like Bowl for Kids Sake and other local events were paused for everyone’s physical health and safety. And the need for our mentoring services has never been greater. We are excited to get back out in our communities and welcome our friends and neighbours in person,” says Chris Pon, Vice President Fund Development, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
“When we ignite potential in children early in life through mentoring, they are better able to face and navigate life’s adversities in the future,” says W. Matthew Chater, President and CEO, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. The evidence supports that mentoring through intentional relationships is an essential service, a critical intervention that helps youth. BBBS is the leading non-profit social organization dedicated to helping enrich young people’s lives through the power of one-to-one mentoring. “Our data shows that for every dollar invested, there is a 23-fold return to society,” adds Chater.
