Where will the event be held?

In close proximity to the Children’s Hospital in your city, we will have an amazing ride route in the downtown core.

 

When is the event?

We offer flexible event times both in the morning and afternoon during weekdays in May and June 2024.

 

How much is the fee to participate?

$2500 plus tax

 

What will we get for the $2500 fee?

• MEGABike with 29 seats

• 20-30 minute ride

• Friendly & professional driver

• Participant check in table 

• Music, noise makers & bubbles

• Photo station

 

How many people can participate?

Up to 29 riders per bike.

 

How far do we ride?

It varies by location and route, but generally about 3km. 

 

How long is the event?

The ride itself typically takes 20-30 minutes. You should arrive 15-30 minutes before your scheduled ride time to ensure all waivers are signed, prepare for warm-ups and have a team photo taken. Some teams plan post-event activities—hopefully yours is one of them!

 

Where do we park?

You will receive an event day package with detailed instructions including the precise location of where to park and meet your team. 

 

Do I need to be physically fit to participate?

The bike is similar to pedaling a traditional bike for 20-30 minutes! You can make it a workout, or you can let others do the work. While the bike is pedal powered, it’s not overly strenuous. Please be aware that you do need to be able to climb onto the bike unaided.

 

 

What do we wear?

We recommend wearing comfortable athleisure clothing and sneakers.

 

What happens if there is bad weather?

We ride in rain, wind, and even snow! But if there’s lightning or other dangerous weather, the event can be rescheduled or cancelled. In the unlikely event that this happens to your event, a representative will liaise directly with your team’s captain.

 

Will my business be promoted? 

No, however, sponsorship opportunities and booth space is available for an additional fee.

 

How long has this program been around?

The MEGABike has previously supported charitable organizations like Heart & Stroke Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada for over 15 years. 

 

Can I bring my family?

This choice is up to you and your company to make.

 

Is there a minimum number of riders?

The bike is full with 29 riders.  The MEGABike is “pedal-powered,” and therefore requires about 20 people to get it going. 

 

My organization/company has more than 29 people who are interested in riding. Can we register more than one team?

Yes!

 

Is there an age limit?

For safety reasons, we cannot allow anyone under the age of 14 to participate. Anyone aged 14 years or older! Individuals aged 14-17 (or 18 depending upon the province) years can ride as long as a parent or legal guardian has provided signed permission on the waiver form.

 

 

Is this safe?

The MEGABike Challenge has multiple protocols in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

 

What if there are COVID restrictions by then?

We follow all requirements as outlined by Public Health Canada and/or applicable Provincial regulations. 

 

What if we need to cancel?

If cancelling more than 60 days prior to your event day, a 50% refund will be provided.  The partial refund is due to event costs and our commitment to charitable organizations.  

 

Can we get a tax receipt?

Tax receipts are not provided for participating in MEGABike, however any additional fundraising efforts would qualify and would be issued directly from the charity.
